WRBCS409A/01 - Apply knowledge of skin science to beauty therapy treatments
1. The relevant principles of skin science are identified and applied to the performance of beauty therapy treatments according to relevant legislation and workplace policies and procedures.
2. The growth, development, ageing and healing of human skin, including changes over time, are identified and their relevance to the performance of beauty therapy treatments is noted.
3. The inheritance or genetics of physical traits and conditions which affect beauty therapy treatments are identified and related to the performance of beauty therapy treatments.
4. The function, formation and behaviour of the major skin chemicals and the role of the endocrine glands and hormones in the body is identified and related to the performance of beauty therapy treatments.
5. The importance of percutaneous absorption in a range of beauty therapy treatments is related to beauty therapy treatments.
WRBCS409A/02 - Apply knowledge of skin disorders to beauty therapy treatments
1. The development, causes and common sites including typical symptoms and medical terminology commonly used for a range of skin disorders/diseases is identified and related to the performance of beauty therapy treatments.
2. Contagious disorders and potential for cross infection are identified and the performance of services is conducted according to workplace policies and legal requirements.
3. Typical medical treatments and side effects for a range of skin disorders/diseases are identified and discussed with the client as required.
4. The role and limitations of Beauty Therapy in the management of a range of skin disorders/diseases is recognised and services and treatments are conducted according to workplace policies and legal requirements.
5. Knowledge of contra-indications to treatments is identified as they relate to client health and treatment outcomes, and advice or referral to appropriate professionals is provided as required.
WRBCS409A/03 - Promote skin health and care
1. Knowledge of skin science is applied to the performance of beauty therapy treatments to maximise the promotion of skin health and care.
2. Beneficial treatments provided by beauty therapists for a range of skin disorders/diseases are identified and related to the performance of beauty therapy treatments.
3. The relevant principles of skin science are applied in the provision of aftercare service and advice.
